İmamoğlu recalls those words: 'Wherever it may be...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu has reshared footage of a striking speech he previously delivered via the Presidential Candidate Office's social media account.

In his post, İmamoğlu stated, "Wherever it may be, we stand against the oppressor and with the oppressed. Our heads are held high, our conscience is clear. Wherever we were yesterday, we are there today as well."

In the footage taken from a speech he gave at an iftar program in Yenikapı, İmamoğlu criticizes the politicization of the law. Highlighting the phrase "The religion of the state is justice" in his speech, İmamoğlu expressed that interventions in the judiciary harm all segments of society.

Stating in his speech that justice should not be for certain segments only, but for all citizens, Ekrem İmamoğlu used the following expressions:

"If injustice or lawlessness is committed against someone, I will rush to their door. I do not look at their party. If these same things were done to an AK Party mayor today, Ekrem İmamoğlu would be a coward if he did not go to court and join their defense."

We would only talk about poverty. The religion of the state is justice. What a sacred phrase, isn't it? The religion of the state is justice.
