Asrın Law Office, which represents PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in İmralı Prison, has responded to the claims recently brought to the agenda regarding 'Öcalan wanting to get married.'

In a statement made from the office's social media account, it was stated that the discourse in question carries a problem of morality and mentality.

The statement from Asrın Law Office is as follows:

“In these days we are going through, we are all witnessing our client, Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, trying to fulfill his historical role regarding the construction of an equal, free, and democratic common life. Despite the conditions of isolation, he is waging a relentless struggle to ensure an honorable peace against those who feed on polarization and the lack of a solution to the Kurdish issue.

At such a historical and sensitive time, instead of showing the morality of thinking about how to contribute to a democratic solution, we see that manipulative approaches based on lies, which do not recognize the boundaries of level and respect, are being displayed toward Mr. Öcalan.

We also know that these low-level discussions and discourses carried out on TV or virtual media channels under the guise of understanding the process carry a problem of morality and mentality, and aim to undermine the effort for peace and a solution.

Such approaches are developed not only toward the person of Mr. Öcalan but also toward his power for a solution, and furthermore, toward the libertarian ideology that has spread to the world with the Jin Jiyan Azadî philosophy.

For these reasons, we invite everyone to think and speak with the language of peace, and to put forth effort and thought to reach a democratic ground with a positive attitude.”
