It was claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu and his team would return: Özgür Özel puts an end to the 'Will a trustee be appointed to the CHP?' debate

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel spoke about the debate on "Will a trustee be appointed to the CHP?" which came to the agenda after a lawsuit was accepted by the Criminal Court of First Instance.

Speaking to Deniz Zeyrek from Nefes Gazetesi, Özel stated that he had examined the content of the allegations in the case file and said, "I read the indictment; there is nothing of note in it. I also saw the MASAK report, and it states that no financial link supporting the allegations was found."

CLEAR MESSAGE REGARDING THE PARTY CONGRESS LAWSUIT

Another question directed at Özgür Özel was the possibility of an "absolute nullity" ruling in the CHP Party Congress lawsuit to be heard on June 30. There were comments suggesting that in such a case, former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu could return to the party leadership.

Özel responded to these claims by stating that the authorities at other levels of the party could also become controversial, saying:

"(Laughing) What will they do; will they appoint trustees to those municipalities? Or will they renew the elections? If they renew the elections, will they renew them across all of Turkey or only in places where the CHP won?"

Özgür Özel also emphasized a critical point highlighted by Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu. Recalling Tanrıkulu's view that "It is impossible for the civil court to conclude the case before the criminal case is concluded, because the civil court will base its assessment on the outcome of the criminal court," Özel also provided information to the public regarding the technical process of the case.

Zeyrek stated that he had personally asked Sezgin Tanrıkulu about these remarks and received the following explanation:

"If the criminal case results in favor of the defendants, there will be no grounds left for the civil case. After the local court finishes the case, the appeal process begins. While this process continues, the CHP will already be conducting its own regular congress process and holding its new regular party congress."
