Muharrem İnce is returning: Back in CHP ranks after 4.5 years!

It has been reported that Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce will announce his return to the Republican People's Party (CHP) to the public by attending the CHP group meeting to be held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) today. İnce, who resigned from the party on February 8, 2021, is returning to his "father's home" after an interval of approximately 4.5 years.

In CHP corridors, it is being discussed that İnce will take his place in the CHP benches during the group meeting, effectively marking his return to the party.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had invited Muharrem İnce to join the CHP during his visit to the Memleket Party Headquarters on June 18. Making a statement after the visit, Özel said, "I invited Mr. Muharrem İnce and our friends in the Memleket Party to their father's home. The process from here on is at their discretion."

Muharrem İnce, in response to the invitation, had stated that he would convene his party's authorized bodies and that the decision was in the evaluation stage.

HE LEFT THE CHP IN 2021

Muharrem İnce resigned from the CHP on February 8, 2021. Prior to this decision, İnce launched the "Homeland Movement" on September 4, 2020, and shortly thereafter founded the Memleket Party. The party, established on May 17, 2021, participated in the 2023 general elections with its own list.

Participating in the elections as the leader of his party, İnce made headlines when he withdrew his candidacy at the last minute.

Muharrem İnce's political career was largely shaped under the CHP umbrella. Starting his political career as the CHP Yalova Provincial Chairman, İnce served as a Member of Parliament for Yalova between 2002 and 2018. He served as the CHP Group Deputy Chairman between 2010 and 2014.

İnce, who was a candidate for the CHP Chairmanship in 2014 and 2018, competed as the party's candidate in the 2018 Presidential elections.

With the CHP group meeting to be held today, Muharrem İnce's return to the CHP will become official.
