New message from terrorist leader Öcalan: 'It is not possible for Kurds to lay down arms'
Following the terrorist organization PKK's symbolic ceremony for laying down arms, a statement regarding Rojava has come from terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. In a statement made through his brother, Öcalan said that it is not possible for the Kurds in Syria to lay down their arms.
Within the scope of the reconciliation process initiated by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and conducted between the People's Alliance and the DEM Party, the terrorist organization PKK destroyed its weapons in a symbolic, so-called ceremony last Friday. In the decision announced with the words "The era of armed struggle has ended," it was stated that the organization would take steps on the political ground from now on.
While this development found wide repercussions on Turkey's agenda, it also led to activity in Ankara's political circles. In the coming days, a commission is expected to be established under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) with the participation of all political parties. The purpose of the commission will be to oversee the process of the terrorist organization PKK laying down its arms and to guide the political reflections of this process. However, while the process is ongoing, a new statement from PKK ringleader Abdullah Öcalan has reignited the debates.
Terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan gave striking messages regarding Rojava in a statement made through his brother, Mehmet Öcalan. The statement was announced to the public by journalist Adem Karaçoban. Stating that it is not possible for Kurds in the Rojava region in northern Syria to lay down their arms, Öcalan used the following expressions:
“We have done what was expected of us; there is nothing left for us to do. Kurds in Rojava can never lay down their arms. Ahmet Şara is the head of ISIS; it is unclear what he will do tomorrow. If necessary, the SDF can declare the Syrian Democratic Republic in Tabqa.”
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who met with deputies at the AKP Headquarters in April, had given important messages regarding the armed structures in northern Syria. Fidan had expressed that the YPG would also lay down its arms and join the regime army with the following words:
“We are following the process regarding the YPG with sensitivity. They will lay down their arms and join the national army. There will never be any question of a federal structure in Syria, and no armed structure other than the army will be tolerated under any circumstances. We attach importance to the Kurds being one of the founding elements of the Syrian constitution.”
