A DEM Party delegation went to İmralı today for a new meeting with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.

According to information obtained, it is claimed that on February 15, 2025, the anniversary of Öcalan's arrival in Turkey, he will make a direct call to the PKK to "lay down arms" or "end its armed presence in Turkey."

NEW PROCESS BEGAN WITH BAHÇELİ'S CALL

The call for reconciliation made by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in Parliament on October 1, 2024, opened the doors to a period similar to the resolution process.

The peace contacts that began following Bahçeli's statements are continuing today for the second time, following the first visit to İmralı on December 28.

During the meeting, the DEM Party delegation will convey the details of the contacts made with political parties to Öcalan and relay the concerns expressed by some parties.

Devlet Bahçeli had previously suggested in his statements that Öcalan should come to Parliament in person to announce that the organization had been disbanded. However, it is stated that due to legal procedures, it is more likely that this call will be made from İmralı.

WHEN WILL ÖCALAN'S CALL TO LAY DOWN ARMS COME?

Just as significant steps were timed to coincide with symbolic dates during the 2013-2015 resolution process, it is planned for Öcalan to make this call on February 15.

According to the report by Ferit Aslan, the DEM Party delegation will meet with the government and other political parties again upon their return from İmralı. If the negotiations progress positively, a third visit may take place.
