Notable behind-the-scenes talk in CHP: Ekrem Bey got his way... 'Things are going to get very messy'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel had announced his party's roadmap for determining its presidential candidate and stated that they would set up ballot boxes.

This statement by Özel was interpreted as being to the disadvantage of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who has been leading in the polls.

Journalist Gürbüz Evren, a guest on the live broadcast of the program "Tartışma Konusu" (Topic of Discussion) with Başak Şengül and Ahmet Yeşiltepe on tv100, shared behind-the-scenes information regarding the agenda of holding a primary to determine the presidential candidate in the CHP.

Journalist Evren included the following statements in his speech: "Congratulations to İmamoğlu. A primary with party members means İmamoğlu is the candidate. Mansur Bey's approval was not obtained for this method. Yet, Özgür Bey had said they would conduct polls. The parliamentary group, the Party Assembly (PM), and the Central Executive Board (MYK) were bypassed. In short, Ekrem Bey got his way. Things are going to get very messy."

Başak Şengül also stated, "Let me share information reflected from names and sources close to Mansur Yavaş. Sources close to Yavaş confirm the meeting they had with Özgür Özel last week, but state that Özel did not tell Yavaş about his preference to determine the candidate through a primary."
