'Nullity crisis' discussed in Silivri: Response from the İmamoğlu camp to Kılıçdaroğlu's 'Should I leave it to a trustee?' message!

While discussions regarding the party congress process within the Republican People's Party (CHP) continue, an important meeting took place in Silivri. CHP Party Assembly (PM) member Engin Özkoç and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer met with presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

The meeting addressed the lawsuit for the cancellation of the CHP Congress, which will be heard at the Ankara 23rd Civil Court of First Instance on June 30, and the possibility of "absolute nullity" on the agenda. Prior to this meeting, Özkoç and Seçer also visited former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to gather information regarding potential scenarios.

VISIT TO KILIÇDAROĞLU AND WARNING OF ABSOLUTE NULLITY

The primary purpose of Seçer and Özkoç's visit to Kılıçdaroğlu was to draw attention to the risk that the CHP could face a trustee appointment if a decision of "absolute nullity" is issued. The meeting was organized at the request of İmamoğlu.

In a statement made after these contacts, Vahap Seçer stated that it is of vital importance for the CHP to remain in unity. Seçer said, "If an absolute nullity decision is issued and Kılıçdaroğlu does not accept this duty, the appointment of a trustee could come to the agenda. In this case, our party would face a serious crisis. Our hope is that such a decision will not be issued, but we must be prepared for every possibility."

"OUR PARTY'S UNITY IS IMPORTANT"

Seçer conveyed that during the meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu told them that not accepting the absolute nullity decision would mean "surrendering to a trustee." However, Seçer expressed that they did not agree with this view with the following words:

"Our view was different. The CHP staying together was more important than anything else. Mr. İmamoğlu had also discussed this issue with Kılıçdaroğlu. Of course, it would have been beneficial for the public to hear a clearer answer. But now we will take a stance according to developments."

Engin Özkoç also made evaluations regarding the meeting. Stating that the meeting was held with the knowledge of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and İmamoğlu, Özkoç said, "The fragmentation of this party would be dangerous not only for the CHP but also for Turkey."

Özkoç also conveyed Kılıçdaroğlu's statements that if he were given the duty following an absolute nullity decision, his refusal could drag the party into a trustee process. However, he emphasized that the solution to this issue is for Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel to find common ground.

COUNTDOWN TO THE JUNE 30 TRIAL

All eyes in the CHP are now turned to the trial to be held on June 30. The court's decision could lead to the cancellation of the congress and major changes in the party's management levels.

Journalist İsmail Küçükkaya revealed how İmamoğlu responded to Kılıçdaroğlu's 'trustee message.' According to Küçükkaya, regarding Kılıçdaroğlu's congress message, İmamoğlu said, 'This is a disservice to our party, our country, and us first.'
