Primary election continues in CHP! Millions flock to the polls
In the primary election organized for its presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, the CHP is ensuring broad participation by setting up "solidarity ballot boxes" where non-member citizens, as well as party members, can cast their votes. The voting process, which began today, will continue until 17:00.
The Republican People's Party (CHP) is holding a primary election to confirm Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu as its sole candidate for the 2025 presidential election.
Voting, which began at 08:00 this morning, will continue until 17:00 this evening.
In the primary election, where ballot boxes have been set up in 81 provinces and 973 districts across Turkey, not only party members but also citizens who are not CHP members can cast their votes for İmamoğlu through "solidarity ballot boxes."
SOLIDARITY BALLOT BOXES ESTABLISHED
The CHP has introduced a significant innovation in this year's primary by setting up special ballot boxes where non-member citizens can also participate.
These "solidarity ballot boxes" are not limited to CHP members, offering citizens who are not members of the party the opportunity to vote for Ekrem İmamoğlu.
CHP officials stated that voters can cast their ballots at any province, district, or polling station they choose, regardless of their registered place of residence.
In a statement made by the CHP, it was noted that the lists containing the necessary information for voters to find their polling stations can be accessed at the voting areas in the provinces and districts of their choice.
Although Ekrem İmamoğlu is participating as the sole candidate in the presidential primary, high participation is expected among citizens thanks to the "solidarity ballot boxes."
