Pro-government media signals: 'Absolute nullity' ruling finalized!

The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance has issued its ruling in the case concerning the CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress, held on October 8, 2023.

The court removed CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik and his administration from office. Following this decision, a trustee was appointed to the party, and Gürsel Tekin assumed the role.

"WE DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE RULING"

Following the removal of the CHP İstanbul Provincial Administration, an extraordinary Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting was held at the CHP Headquarters. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who presided over the meeting, joined a live broadcast on Halk TV afterward.

Emphasizing that they do not recognize the decision taken, Özel characterized the developments in Istanbul as an intervention in democratic politics.

EXPECTATION OF 'ABSOLUTE NULLITY' IN PRO-GOVERNMENT MEDIA

Following the court's decision in Istanbul, all eyes have turned to the CHP 38th Ordinary Congress case to be heard on September 15. Many figures in the pro-government media view an 'absolute nullity' ruling in the case in question as a certainty.

CEM KÜÇÜK: "THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR CHP"

Cem Küçük, one of the prominent voices in the pro-government media, argued that the Istanbul decision would serve as a guide for Ankara. Küçük stated the following:

"This situation has finalized that the court in Ankara will issue an 'absolute nullity' ruling on September 15. It is as if Istanbul acted as a precursor, and Ankara will follow suit. Either Mr. Kemal or someone else will take over the CHP administration. In my opinion, this decision is the beginning of the end for the CHP."
