Remarkable post from the Tunceli Governor who was reassigned: 'If I had the power, I would cut it from the root'

Tunceli Governor and municipal trustee Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu was reassigned to the central government by a decision of the Ministry of Interior following the authorization of a commemoration event for two individuals described as PKK organization leaders.

HE REQUESTED THE REASSIGNMENT HIMSELF

Following Tekbıyıkoğlu's reassignment, it emerged that this decision was made in line with his own request. The former governor stated that he had submitted a petition to the Ministry of Interior requesting to be recalled to the center.

The Ministry of Interior included the following statements in its public announcement:

“Tunceli Governor Mr. Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu has been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Interior. Deputy Governor Mr. Ertuğrul Aslan has been appointed as acting Tunceli Governor. Respectfully announced to the public.”

APPOINTED AS CHIEF INSPECTOR

In accordance with the decision published in the Official Gazette, Tekbıyıkoğlu was appointed as a Chief Inspector within the Ministry of Interior. Thus, Tekbıyıkoğlu, who was recalled to the center with the title of governor, will continue his duty in the ministry's central organization.

QUOTATION FROM MAHMUT ESAT BOZKURT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Breaking his silence on his social media account after the change of duty, Tekbıyıkoğlu made a remarkable post. He shared the following words belonging to Mahmut Esat Bozkurt, one of the early-period jurists of the Republic:

“Mustafa Kemal, Talat, Enver; if I had the power, I would cut out by the root the tongues that reach out to these three.”

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Taking the floor at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly, DEM Party Mardin Deputy George Aslan said the following regarding the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality's construction of a Talat Pasha monument:

“In 1915, when the Ottoman population was 13 million, approximately three million of this population consisted of Christian peoples, namely Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians. Today is 2025, exactly 110 years have passed. While Turkey's population is 86 million, why is the population of Christian peoples expressed in the tens of thousands when it should have reached millions under normal conditions? What happened to these people? Of course, no answer came to this question I asked. While we were expecting a sincere confrontation regarding the genocide experienced against Christian peoples in 1915, on the contrary, the names of the perpetrators are being given to public spaces, streets, parks, and schools, and their monuments are being erected. A monument for Talat Pasha was built in the Altındağ district by Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. We do not accept the erection of a monument for someone who gave the death order for tens of thousands of Armenians who were killed, sent into exile, and whose property was seized in 1915, when a monument should have been erected for them. Some people may be heroes for one nation, but for other nations, these people are not heroes but murderers.”
