Silivri diary from Fatih Altaylı... He brings up the Mansur Yavaş allegations once again: He explained it by saying, 'I also asked Özgür Özel about this information'
In a letter sent from prison, detained journalist Fatih Altaylı revealed a new dialogue that could shake up CHP inner circles. Altaylı once again brought up the allegations that Mansur Yavaş had confronted Kılıçdaroğlu harshly, saying, "If you nominate me instead of İmamoğlu, I will quit politics." Altaylı also shared details of a conversation he had with Özgür Özel regarding these circulating claims. Here are the details...
Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who was arrested on charges of 'threatening the President' due to statements he made on his YouTube channel, continues to shake the agenda with letters sent from prison. Altaylı, who has been held at Silivri Marmara Prison for 6 days, shared a new and highly discussed allegation in the 4th video of his series titled 'Fatih Altaylı CANNOT COMMENT: Silivri Diary'.
'IF YOU MAKE ME THE CANDIDATE, I WILL QUIT POLITICS'
Altaylı brought back to the agenda a striking dialogue that he claims took place during a recent meeting between CHP figures and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. According to the allegation, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş confronted Kılıçdaroğlu as follows:
'It is being said that once you sit in the chairman's seat, you will withdraw Ekrem İmamoğlu from the presidential candidacy and nominate me, and that you have even reached an agreement with the government on this matter. If these rumors are true, I will not be a part of such a disgrace. I will come out openly and declare that I do not accept it. I will resign from the party and quit politics.'
HE SAID, 'I ALSO ASKED ÖZGÜR ÖZEL ABOUT THIS INFORMATION'
Altaylı stated that he conveyed this information to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who visited him in prison, and that Özel responded by saying it was 'information in need of verification.' Stating, 'It didn't occur to me to ask how I could verify this while in prison,' Altaylı emphasized that he continues his journalism even from behind bars.
'KILIÇDAROĞLU IS SAYING DON'T STAND BEHIND İMAMOĞLU'
In his letter from the previous day, Altaylı had also alleged that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told Özgür Özel, 'Do not stand behind Ekrem İmamoğlu. Make Mansur Yavaş or yourself the presidential candidate. Then I will support you in the party congress case.'
The relevant section from Altaylı's letter is as follows:
'A REACTION HE NEVER EXPECTED CAME FROM MANSUR YAVAŞ'
In the afternoon, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel came to visit me. We talked for 40 minutes. Emre, I am continuing my journalism here, and if you are a journalist, the news reaches you even between walls. I learned this yesterday as well.
You know that a few days ago, some mayors and CHP members met with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. What was discussed there was conveyed to the public by my friend İsmail Saymaz. He has been doing incredible journalism since his house arrest ended. Let me remind you of that and share the intelligence I received.
During the meeting, when Kılıçdaroğlu said he was ready to accept the role of trustee and take charge of the party, a reaction he never expected came from Mansur Yavaş.
'I WILL RESIGN FROM THE PARTY'
Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Yavaş turned to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and said, 'Mr. Kemal, it is being said that once you sit in the chairman's seat, you will withdraw Ekrem İmamoğlu from the presidential candidacy and nominate me, and that you have even reached an agreement with the government on this matter. I don't know about that much. But you should know this. If you do such a thing, that is, if you announce me as the CHP's candidate, I will come out and say that I do not accept this and I will resign from the party. I would rather quit politics than be a part of such a disgrace.'
I asked Özgür Özel, the CHP Chairman who came to visit me in the afternoon, about this piece of information I received. He said that I needed to verify these things in the meantime. It didn't occur to me to say how I could do that in prison.
