Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu announced that she has resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP. Following her announcement of the switch on the 24th anniversary of the AKP's founding, some notable changes occurred on Çerçioğlu's social media accounts.

While Çerçioğlu unfollowed CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on her social media accounts, she began following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the accounts of the Presidential Palace.
