Journalist and author Sabahattin Önkibar, in his latest assessment on his YouTube channel, opposed claims of an early election, arguing that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will not go to the polls without relief in the economy.

Stating that "Erdoğan's real rival is not the CHP, but the economic collapse," Önkibar claimed that the AKP has lost public support and that it is now impossible to receive 50% of the vote.

"PARLIAMENT COULD ELECT THE PRESIDENT"

Önkibar stated that Erdoğan could make a surprise move by bringing the return to a parliamentary system to the agenda through the discourse of a "new constitution."

Pointing out that with this system change, the authority to elect the president could be transferred back to parliament, Önkibar said, "Thus, Erdoğan could become president once again by securing a numerical majority in Parliament."

"MHP CANNOT RESIST, BAHÇELİ HAS NO OTHER OPTION"

Arguing that it is impossible for the MHP to resist this move by Erdoğan, Önkibar said, "The MHP is nothing more than Devlet Bahçeli. He cannot step outside the Palace. Bahçeli is 78 years old; if he wants to stay in Parliament for one more term, cooperation with the AKP is inevitable."
