The poll that has the Palace deeply concerned: 'How will this gap be closed!'

The latest poll conducted by AREA Research between August 22-24, 2025, with 2,000 people across 26 provinces, has measured Turkey's political and social pulse. According to the survey, President Erdoğan is experiencing a significant loss of votes against opposition leaders.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION SCENARIOS

In the poll conducted among the total electorate, Erdoğan received 35.6 percent of the vote, while Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş moved ahead with 49.7 percent. Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu received 45.8 percent support, and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel received 38.7 percent.

When calculated based on valid votes, Mansur Yavaş surpassed Erdoğan with 58.3 percent, İmamoğlu with 54.9 percent, and Özel with 49.1 percent.

PARTY PREFERENCES AND UNDECIDED VOTERS

In the poll conducted before distributing undecided voters, the CHP received 24.7 percent, the AKP 24 percent, the DEM Party 8 percent, the MHP 6.8 percent, the IYI Party 5.6 percent, the Zafer Party 3.8 percent, and the Anahtar Party 2.4 percent. The rate of undecided voters was measured at 19.9 percent.

Based on valid votes, the CHP and AKP are neck-and-neck at 30.9 percent and 30 percent, respectively.

While 77 percent of participants found the government's economic performance unsuccessful, only 20.8 percent said it was successful. Trust in judicial independence remained at 20.6 percent, while 75.8 percent believe there is no impartiality.

On the other hand, the transition of Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu to the AKP was found to be wrong by 60.8 percent of voters.

In the definition of citizenship, the term "Turkish citizen" emerged as dominant with 79.6 percent, while the term "person from Turkey" remained at 18.2 percent. The IYI Party's decision not to participate in the "Terror-Free Turkey" commission was criticized by 48.7 percent of voters.

According to the poll, in the event that İmamoğlu cannot be a candidate, the CHP base prefers Mansur Yavaş with 53.2 percent. Özgür Özel remains at 21.9 percent, while the rate of undecided voters is 22.9 percent.
