Threats against daughter and family following physical attack on Özel! Home address shared

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel was physically attacked with a punch today while leaving the funeral ceremony of Sırrı Süreyya Önder.

The identity of the person who carried out the attack has been determined, and it was announced that it was committed by Selçuk Tengioğlu, born in Gaziantep in 1959. It was also noted that Tengioğlu had killed his own children in Hatay in 2004.

Following all of this, posts made on social media under the username ‘selcuktengioglu_’ contained threatening messages directed at Özel and his family.

In one of the posts, the user shared an address they claimed belonged to Özgür Özel's daughter, writing, “My daughter İpek… I regret to say that Özgür Özel, your daughter İpek, I have everything of yours… let's see, Özel, are your children as lucky as you are… be ready tonight. The end of this movie will be your end in the graveyard.”

In another post, the person identified as the attacker introduced himself as “Selçuk Tengioğlu” and threatened Özel, his wife, and his children, stating, “I am writing here as him and his brother, and I am not regretful. Health to my brother's hands, someone had to protect this homeland. He should pray that Özgür Özel escaped with just one punch; the next one won't be like this, he will face worse consequences, I am announcing this here. He should pray that he is alive right now, God spared him for his wife and child, we are sparing him. Next time, his family, his wife, and his child should think twice before they step out to walk around; they won't escape this time. Both his wife and he will be gone.”

The individual in question also shared an AKP flag.
