'Troll Reign' ends in AKP: 'We are cutting off their water now'
At the AKP's Kızılcahamam retreat, Media and Publicity Head Faruk Acar announced that they are parting ways with the troll era.
Journalist Sedat Bozkurt's article titled "The 'troll era' has ended," published on kısadalga.net, points to a radical change in the AKP's media strategy.
According to Bozkurt, a notable statement was made during the AKP's 32nd traditional consultation and evaluation meeting held last weekend in Kızılcahamam, Ankara.
AKP Deputy Chairman and Head of Media and Publicity Faruk Acar announced that the troll activities carried out on social media for years would be brought to an end. Acar stated, "We are cutting off the water for the trolls and 'trollesses' now; their era is ending."
NEW MEDIA MODEL WITH 3 THOUSAND PARTY MEMBERS
In the new era, the AKP will deploy party organization members instead of troll accounts on social media. According to the information provided by Acar, over 3 thousand party members, ranging from provincial and district organizations to members of parliament, will take on the task of disseminating the AKP's political theses via social media.
Through this method, the party aims for its views to reach the public through individuals who will be "taken more seriously." Thus, instead of anonymous and aggressive troll accounts, the plan is for the party's official actors to be more visible in the field.
THE SHINING STAR OF THE CAMP: FARUK ACAR
According to Bozkurt's article, Faruk Acar became the standout figure of the camp with this statement and his general presentation. The new media strategy outlined by Acar means not only the decommissioning of trolls but also the creation of a more organized and institutional promotional structure.
It is also stated that this move has caused discomfort among some figures who previously held the same position.
The organization of the Kızılcahamam camp was also found to be more successful compared to previous years. According to Sedat Bozkurt's remarks, while previous camps were like "flat soda," this year's meeting received full marks from participants in terms of both content and organization.
