What does Özgür Özel's message 'My party is ready, my candidate is ready' mean: Who will be the CHP's presidential candidate?

CHP leader Özgür Özel's early election statement has drawn attention as one of the hot topics in politics.

In his speech, Özel said, "Let an early election decision be made. Our party is ready, our candidate is ready." Following this statement, the question "Has the CHP's presidential candidate been determined?" came to the agenda.

CHP leader Özel later stated in a subsequent explanation that their candidate had not yet been determined and that the decision on candidacy would be made together with the party management.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı explained these consecutive statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and the possible scenarios regarding the CHP's presidential candidates.

"Özgür Özel gets caught up in his excitement and uses very forward sentences. Frankly, when Özgür Özel said 'our candidate is ready,' I thought there was a consensus on Ekrem İmamoğlu. We said they could announce it at any moment.

Already, there are claims circulating in CHP corridors such as 'Should we announce İmamoğlu's candidacy now?'

Now, when you utter this sentence, journalists should have come and asked you, 'You said our candidate is determined, who is it?' Özgür Özel's wife would ask him the same thing when he got home.

Now, saying this and then saying something else afterwards was a bit strange. Özel could have said, 'My brother, if you put forward a candidate, we also know how to put forward a candidate after you.'

But the moment you say 'our candidate is determined,' it doesn't work, it doesn't work, it doesn't work...

İMAMOĞLU OR YAVAŞ?

Ekrem İmamoğlu wants the end of the AKP government more than anything. He wants it so much that if the CHP came out tomorrow and said the candidate is Mansur Yavaş, he would support him unconditionally.

I think İmamoğlu would work for Mansur Yavaş. Well, what happens after that, whether there will be a return to a parliamentary regime, I don't know.

But if Yavaş becomes the candidate, I don't think İmamoğlu would say, 'I will also announce my candidacy.'

İMAMOĞLU IS A BETTER CANDIDATE

In my opinion, in terms of being able to govern Turkey, İmamoğlu is a slightly better candidate than Yavaş. Ekrem İmamoğlu seems like the best to me among the current candidates.
