Zafer Party member's 'yellow bag' post! Statement from Ümit Özdağ: 'There is no place for the indecent in our party'
The Zafer Party Istanbul Youth Branch President has been dismissed following controversial posts made after the passing of Sırrı Süreyya Önder. Ümit Özdağ expressed his reaction by stating, "Everything has a sense of decency."
Posts made on the social media account of the Zafer Party Istanbul Youth Branch following the passing of DEM Party Istanbul MP and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Sırrı Süreyya Önder, featuring the phrases "yellow bag" and "Sırrı", drew significant backlash.
While Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that an investigation had been launched into the posts, consecutive statements were issued by the Zafer Party, Ümit Özdağ, and the Youth Branch.
In a statement released by the Zafer Party's official account, it was noted that the posts were inconsistent with party principles, stating, "An internal audit process regarding this irresponsible behavior has been initiated immediately."
The statement also emphasized the party's principles of responsible communication and political seriousness, adding, "No individual attitude can overshadow this struggle."
Announcing that he had been dismissed following the controversial posts, Zafer Party Istanbul Youth Branch Provincial President Ege İşleyenel stated, "The post in question was removed and deleted. This post was intended to characterize how the Chairman was misled and deceived. I have been notified that I have been dismissed due to the yellow bag post shared from the Istanbul Youth Branch account."
POST FROM ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ
Following all these developments, Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who is currently detained at Marmara Prison in Silivri, re-shared the post that was previously claimed to have been deleted.
