Harassment scandal grows in Parliament: Female MPs protest, police set up barricades

Female MPs began a march toward the Dikmen Gate of Parliament to express their reaction to the scandal. During the march, slogans of "Child abuse cannot be covered up" were chanted. During the march, police teams blocked the passage of the female MPs. Encountering the barricade, the MPs reacted to the police officers by saying, "Open the barricade." During the tension that lasted for a while, the MPs stated that they were determined to continue their protest.

HOW DID THE SCANDAL EMERGE?

A 16-year-old vocational high school student working as an intern at the TBMM cafeteria brought the harassment allegations to light by showing the messages sent to her to the authorities. It was learned that the father of one of the students took the matter to the prosecutor's office.

According to the report in Birgün, it was alleged that the abuse had been going on for years and that a group of approximately 10 staff members had been sharing the female interns among themselves, saying, "This intern is mine, that one is yours." TBMM sources also conveyed that these suspicions had been discussed for a long time.

INVESTIGATION STATEMENT FROM TBMM

Following the reflection of the scandal in the public eye, the TBMM General Secretariat made a statement regarding the matter. The statement included the following information:

Upon the complaint filed by the intern's family on 19.11.2025, an administrative investigation was initiated on 20.11.2025.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was stated that a public official working as a cook was suspended from duty on 04.12.2025 and that procedures for the termination of their employment contract are ongoing.

It was stated that the investigation into other suspects is continuing comprehensively.

It was announced that the investigation is aimed to be completed by 12.12.2025 and that all information obtained will be shared with judicial authorities.

"EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT WILL BE TERMINATED, WILL BE REPORTED TO JUDICIAL AUTHORITIES"

The statement also indicated that as a result of the investigation, necessary disciplinary actions, including dismissal from public service, will be applied to those involved. The TBMM administration stated that the allegations are being meticulously investigated and that the process is being conducted transparently.
