Harsh words from Özgür Özel to Özlem Çerçioğlu and Erdoğan: 'Either get thrown in jail or join the AK Party'

Allegations that Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu will join the AKP have dominated the political agenda. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel responded to these claims for the first time, lashing out at both Çerçioğlu and President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with harsh words.

VISITED EKREM İMAMOĞLU IN SİLİVRİ

Özel visited Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in Silivri Prison. Making statements after the visit, Özel said, 'Aydın is the municipality where Aziz İhsan Aktaş works the most in Turkey. If there is a crime, the Court of Accounts will look into it, and it will be tried. But AK Party members are untouchable, while CHP members are being targeted.'

'COULD NOT SHOW BRAVERY'

Intensifying his criticism of Çerçioğlu, Özel used the following expressions: 'When there are so many brave people lying in prison against this injustice, if you cannot show this bravery... If you are acting with the formula of "either get thrown in jail or join the AK Party," then shame on you.'

MESSAGE TO ERDOĞAN REGARDING "AYDIN"

Criticizing President Erdoğan as well, Özel said, 'Tayyip Erdoğan, who could not defeat the CHP candidate, is playing word games. You were kicked out of Aydın on March 31. We defeated you for the third and fourth time. If taking Aydın is done by saying "either get locked up or join my party," is this bravery?'

Özel described the AK Party's political stance as a "corrupt system" and stated, 'They are supposedly going to have Özlem Çerçioğlu join the AK Party tomorrow with the formula of "either get thrown in jail or join the AK Party." This is the AK Party's corrupt system.'
