Has the DEM Party's Imralı visit been postponed? 'The request came from Öcalan'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli’s call was followed by the DEM Party Co-Chairs applying to the Ministry of Justice to meet with PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı Prison. However, 22 days have passed without a decision on permission from the ministry regarding the meeting.

YILMAZ TUNÇ HAD SAID 'AT A CONVENIENT TIME' 

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, in his statement regarding the meeting, said, “We will determine a convenient time. You will need to be a little patient. A decision will likely be made after the budget negotiations in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey are concluded. The permission and the date are determined at the same time,” he stated.

DID THE REQUEST FOR POSTPONEMENT COME FROM ÖCALAN?

According to a report by Gazete Duvar, the meeting planned to take place at Imralı Prison was postponed at the request of Abdullah Öcalan. It is alleged that a delegation from the DEM Party and a meeting date had been set, but that Öcalan postponed the date on the grounds that he was working on developments in Syria.

WHO WILL COMPRISE THE DELEGATION?

Another claim in Demirkaya’s article, based on government sources, is that the delegation to visit Imralı will consist of a large team. In addition to DEM Party MPs Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan are expected to attend the meeting.
