He asked in Parliament: 'Where is Turkey's Escobar?'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır made significant remarks regarding drug operations during the budget negotiations held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). In his speech, Başarır shared information, stating, "We have friends in this parliament from the 27th legislative term. A total of 3.5 tons of cocaine was found at the Port of Mersin on multiple occasions. 8.5 million drug pills were found." He continued, "We asked, where are the criminals? Unfortunately, warehouses were rented. We showed the minister the location of the rented warehouses. They could not be found. The country of origin is Colombia, Venezuela. The port of arrival is known, the drugs are there, but there is no baron," he said.

"WHERE IS TURKEY'S ESCOBAR?"

"But who are we dealing with now? Artists, club presidents. We are talking about the finale. Today, people can access drugs more easily than they can access Getir. Today, drugs are sold on every street and in every neighborhood. Our children are in danger. There is one thing we are not talking about: the barons," Başarır stated, directing the question, "Friends, where is Turkey's Escobar? Where? I am asking you this. Where?" to the AKP deputies.

Continuing his speech, the CHP deputy said, "I am not the one saying this. I hope you don't arrest me for this too. Ahmet Faruk Ünsal, your former deputy, says, 'You catch the street dealer, you catch the courier, you catch the artist. Where are the barons?'" Başarır added, "Why haven't you brought a single baron before the law or the courts in this country for 10 years? We received summaries of proceedings because we said this. We were accused because we said drugs are being sold in front of schools. Expose the club president and the artists today. Violate the confidentiality of the files as well. Where is the baron? I am asking you, Mr. Yıldırım. The opposition is asking this," he said.

"WHAT WAS IT DOING IN FRONT OF MY PROVINCIAL BUILDING?"

Recalling the statement made by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya 3 months ago, "We carried out the largest drug operation in the history of the Republic of Turkey. With 4,000 police officers," Başarır said, "Alas. But this man carried out the execution of a bizarre trustee appointment decision in Istanbul with 6,000 police officers. Isn't it a shame? 6,000 police officers make 42,000 police officers in a week. What was it doing in front of my provincial building? Wouldn't it have been better if they had gone to the streets of Etiler, Beyoğlu, or Bebek and followed the barons instead? But staging a coup against a party is more valuable to you than fighting against a drug party or drug barons. I am asking again. What are 6,000 police officers doing at the Istanbul Provincial Center? Yes, unfortunately, you have brought the law, security, and justice to this state," he stated.
