Orhan Avcı, who served as a village head (muhtar) for two terms in the Karlıova district, was recently appointed as the district head of the Huzur Party. The photos Avcı shared, featuring his long and striking mustache, quickly gained significant attention on the internet.

Regarding his political journey, Avcı said, “I decided that it was time to enter politics 2.5 years after leaving my position as village head. Because I value a clean approach to politics, I wanted to continue my life in politics from now on. I accepted the offer from the Huzur Party's Bingöl organization. I will remain committed to the party's line, and we will begin working for my district.”

THE SAME STYLE FOR 20 YEARS

Emphasizing that he has worn his mustache in the same style for about 20 years, Avcı noted that he goes to the barber regularly for its maintenance. Stating that he had the same style of mustache during his time as a village head in the past, Avcı said, “When I became a village head in 2004, there were 550 households in my village, and I served them all. At that time, some people warned me, saying, ‘You are now considered a civil servant; you will get a reaction from state institutions,’ but I never encountered a negative reaction from any institution. I have loved my mustache for 20 years.”

Stating that his long mustache is simply his style, Avcı mentioned that this situation has even attracted attention abroad: “I don't grow my mustache long as a reflection of any ideology; I just do it because I think it suits me. In recent days, my photos have been shared in countries like Germany, France, Italy, and China. This interest is a source of pride for both our hometown and myself. In addition to positive evaluations, there are also those who ‘cannot stand my mustache’ and those who are jealous. I leave the comments entirely to the discretion of my followers.
