He gave instructions to his staff: Kılıçdaroğlu puts an end to 'alliance' debates
It has been learned that CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told his staff regarding the alliance debates in the opposition, "Do not get into these debates about whether there is an alliance or not. Do not give statements about them. Work as if we are entering the election on our own."
The İYİ Party, which decided to enter the local elections with its own candidates and closed the doors to an alliance with the CHP, has recently criticized the CHP regarding the 'motion'.
During the discussions on the Syria motion in Parliament, İYİ Party deputies made speeches targeting the CHP. İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener also said, "We were faced with a language that accused everyone who said 'Yes' to the motion of treason, as if they were inviting foreign boots to step on our soil."
According to the report by Cumhuriyet; it is stated that these harsh statements from the İYİ Party front have also been reflected in the meetings that CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been holding for some time with the party's deputies and organizations regarding the local election agenda. While it is stated that some deputies in the party suggest that the CHP should continue on its path without an alliance with the İYİ Party, it is reported that others emphasize that an alliance is necessary for success.
'DO NOT GET INTO DEBATES, WORK AS IF WE ARE ENTERING THE ELECTION ON OUR OWN'
The party's current management defends the view that "The opposition should not be destructive within itself, should not target each other, and its struggle should be against the government." It is emphasized that Kılıçdaroğlu also warned party members in the meetings, "Do not get into these debates about whether there is an alliance or not. Do not give statements about them. Work as if we are entering the election on our own."
'WE ARE NOT CALLING ANYONE TRAITORS'
Furthermore, party staff also say regarding Akşener's accusation about the motion, "We are not calling anyone 'traitors'. In fact, every party's view is different, and we respect that." They say that even if there is no alliance in a general sense, there could be alliances on the basis of candidates, voters, and the grassroots.
'CONGRESS FIRST'
Those advocating for change point out that the issue of an alliance could come to the agenda after the party congress. The change advocates make the assessment, "Candidates are being announced right now, and an alliance is being discussed. However, the determination of candidates is the authority of the party assembly that will be formed after the congress. The congress must happen first."
