'His hand is at headquarters, his eyes are on other positions,' she had said: Ekrem İmamoğlu's response to Meral Akşener was not delayed!

As the local elections approach, polemics on the political agenda are also increasing.

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, who decided to enter the local elections "freely and independently," used the following expressions regarding İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, whom she had nominated as a presidential candidate in the May elections: "Those whose hands are at headquarters, whose eyes are on other positions, and who are in Istanbul only in their spare time cannot manage this city."

İmamoğlu's response to Akşener's words was not delayed.

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) President Şekib Avdagiç, whom İmamoğlu visited, made statements following the visit.

"I WILL NO LONGER BE A COUNTERPART"

When reminded of Akşener's words, İmamoğlu spoke as follows:

"Frankly, I am facing multiple opponents in this election period. In some political speeches made by many of our friends who are our rivals in Istanbul, by political party representatives, or on their behalf, there will be incomplete, excessive; consistent, inconsistent; false, and incorrect comments."

Stating that he would not respond unless there was a project in Istanbul or a statement regarding his own projects, İmamoğlu said, "If there is a project regarding Istanbul or a description directed at the work we do in Istanbul, I will provide an answer within that scope. I will not be a counterpart to these political, vague, and invalid political discourses. It no longer matters whether it is party A, B, or the leader of party A or B."

In the continuation of his statement, İmamoğlu said the following:

"My job is to account for the past five years to our 16 million people regarding the Istanbul election, and to be re-elected, God willing, in the strongest way possible by breaking a historic vote record by conveying our designs and plans for the next five years."
