He had said 'my last election': Notable statement from MHP regarding Erdoğan's '3rd term' candidacy

The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) is holding its 14th Ordinary Grand Congress.

Taking the podium to deliver a speech, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli addressed the statement made by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding it being 'my last election'.

Calling out to Erdoğan, Bahçeli stated, "You cannot leave, you cannot leave the Turkish nation alone, we are with you. We want to see you as the savior leader of the new century."

While the '3rd term candidacy' debates have returned to the agenda following Erdoğan's 'my last election' statement, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız made a notable statement during a live broadcast on NTV.

Yıldız said, "The Parliament can decide to renew the elections so that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan can be a candidate for the 3rd time in 2028."

Stating that there is no "early election" in the new system, but rather "renewal of elections," Yıldız assessed, "In the new system, there is the renewal of elections. This is what our esteemed chairman pointed to. In the elections to be held in 2028, our esteemed President can be a candidate with a parliamentary decision. When the Parliament makes a decision, both the esteemed President and the Parliament continue their work until the elections. This is not called dissolution."
