Holiday messages from politicians: What did which leader say?

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan celebrated the Eid al-Adha of the Islamic world.

Erdoğan stated, "I sincerely congratulate you on the arrival of Eid al-Adha. I pray to the Almighty that these blessed days bring goodness to our nation, the Islamic world, and all of humanity. We observe with satisfaction that the climate of softening in politics has contributed to our nation embracing each other once again. I believe that, God willing, by joining our hearts together, we will turn this holiday into a true feast of brotherhood."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL CELEBRATED EID AL-ADHA

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated, "The normalization of Turkey requires the compass of politics to be turned back to the nation and for the political agenda to be shaped solely around the people's agenda. As the party that came first in the last elections, this is the main issue we prioritize in the normalization process."

In his Eid al-Adha message, Özel noted that holidays are days when the importance of tolerance and the culture of living together is better understood, and feelings of cooperation and solidarity are increased.

Expressing that the country and its citizens have been experiencing economic difficulties for a long time due to wrong political choices, Özel said, "The Presidential cabinet, whose political and economic preferences did not receive the approval of the public in the March 31 local elections, is preparing regulations that will make the rich richer and the poor poorer, instead of ensuring justice in taxation, abandoning the idea of not increasing the minimum wage, and increasing the lowest pension."

Stating that after the March 31 local elections, they came together with education workers in Istanbul, retirees in Ankara, tea producers in Rize, and grain producers in Hayrabolu—who are among the segments most affected by the economic crisis—to voice their problems, Özel announced that they would meet with laborers and minimum wage earners in Gebze after Eid al-Adha.

- "We will expand social municipalism practices"

Stating that they will continue to strive for citizens to live in more livable conditions and to escape the hunger and poverty thresholds to which they are condemned, and that they will expand social municipalism practices in the local governments they manage, Özgür Özel noted the following:

I hope that new European countries will join those that have decided to recognize Palestine against the massacre in Gaza, which breaks the hearts of the entire Islamic world and all of humanity, and I wish for the world to break its silence in the face of this oppression."

Celebrating Eid al-Adha, Özel wished for the holiday to bring peace and tranquility to the entire Islamic geography.

There were notable statements in the holiday message of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli:

My wish is that on the occasion of the holiday, everyone engages in a conscience check, addresses issues sincerely, and turns back from the mistake of pushing our thresholds of tolerance.

The hypocrisy of political, stingy, and irritable mentalities that pose with softness on one hand while raining down the hatred in their nature and background on the other is at a shameful level.

Those who attempt to judge and terrorize our cause and community with the orders of enemies of the Turks through incitement of discord and corruption will pay a heavy price before justice and the nation.

BOTH A WARNING AND A CELEBRATION FROM MINISTER YERLİKAYA

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated, "May Eid al-Adha bring goodness to our country and to the entire Islamic world, especially our Palestinian brothers and sisters."
In a video message he shared on his social media account for Eid al-Adha, Yerlikaya stated that the joy of reaching the holiday is being experienced.

Emphasizing that holidays are symbols of love, loyalty, and sacrifice, Yerlikaya expressed that holidays are the most beautiful form of sharing and cooperation.
Addressing citizens who will set out on the road during the holiday, Yerlikaya noted the following:

"My dear brothers and sisters who will hit the road to reach their loved ones, please, but please be careful. Go safely and return in good health. May your homes be joyful, and may your journey end in a holiday. May Eid al-Adha bring goodness to our country and to the entire Islamic world, especially our Palestinian brothers and sisters. On this occasion, I congratulate the families of our martyrs, our veterans, our heroes standing guard all over our sacred homeland, and every member of our nation on this holiday. May we have many more holidays in peace and security. Happy Eid al-Adha."

HOLIDAY MESSAGE FROM DESTİCİ

Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici stated, "We can only defeat evil, oppression, injustice, and cruelty through love and solidarity; by embracing each other and our values, and we will."

In his message for Eid al-Adha, Destici stated that the holiday is being observed under conditions where death, migration, pain, and despair caused by wars are the defining factors.

Emphasizing that a genocide is continuing in Gaza where tens of thousands of children, women, and the elderly are being cruelly massacred, Destici noted the following:

"Our Uyghur Turk brothers are being tried to be destroyed because of their identities and beliefs. In many geographies, the exploitation of global imperialism causes greater destruction and pain than wars and natural disasters. While experiencing the spiritual climate of Eid al-Adha, we must never forget the responsibilities we bear against what is happening around us, in our country, and in the world."

Mustafa Destici stated, "We must remember our obligations regarding the society we belong to and those in need, which our beliefs command us, most especially on these days."

Asking those who have the means to reach out to those in need, Destici stated that this is a requirement of the religion they belong to. Destici assessed, "We can only defeat evil, oppression, injustice, and cruelty through love and solidarity; by embracing each other and our values, and we will."
