İmamoğlu addresses Erdoğan: 'You went from threats to begging, you rascal'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the Pendik Public Meeting. In his speech there, İmamoğlu addressed Erdoğan, who had said, "This is my last election."
İmamoğlu responded to Erdoğan, who said regarding the March 31 elections, "For me, this is a final," by saying, "What happened to the bravado you were showing a few weeks ago? You went from threats to begging, you rascal..."
Speaking in Pendik, İmamoğlu said, "The President threatened his nation. He said, 'If you don't vote for us, services won't come, natural gas won't come,' right? But look, now he has become tearful, he has become emotional. What did I tell you?
I told you he is threatening you because he is afraid of you. What did he say yesterday? He says 'please.' He says this is my last election, look, look, look... What happened to the bravado you were showing a few weeks ago? You went from threats to begging, you rascal..."
"THIS IS A FINAL FOR ME"
In a speech he gave in recent days, Erdoğan had said that the March 31 local elections would be his last. Erdoğan had stated, "For me, this is a final. With the authority given by the law, this election is my last election, but the result that will emerge from here will be the transfer of a trust to my brothers who will come after me."
"YOU RASCAL"
İmamoğlu responded to Erdoğan's statement and said the following: "A panic has started almost everywhere; they are rattled. They were so afraid that for a week, the President had been threatening his nation. He said if you don't vote, services won't come, natural gas won't come, right?
But look, now he has become tearful, he has become emotional. What did I tell you? I told you he is threatening you because he is afraid of you. What did he say yesterday? He says 'please.' He says this is my last election, look, look, look...
What happened to the bravado you were showing a few weeks ago? You went from threats to begging, you rascal... Didn't this nation just vote for you to be President, don't you have 4 more years? This is a mayoral election, an Istanbul election. We have started to get confused about who our opponent is. This is how the will of the nation brings you into line, my brother."
