İmamoğlu addresses mayors: 'Stay away from partisanship'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted sharply to the government's threat to close nurseries during the CHP's Local Governments and Education Workshop. Criticizing partisanship, İmamoğlu sent a message to mayors, stating, "We will work for service."
Speaking at the Republican People's Party (CHP) Local Governments and Education Workshop, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu criticized the targeting of nursery projects.
Commenting on the nurseries that the government has threatened to close, İmamoğlu stated, "We are serving a great need. Trying to extract something political from this is the product of a diseased mindset."
İmamoğlu noted that there are more than 30 nurseries currently under construction in Istanbul, emphasizing that these projects are of great importance not only for children and families but also for social development.
"We will ensure they bid farewell to their seats," said İmamoğlu, adding that such obstructions do not go unnoticed by the public and that the necessary response will be given at the ballot box.
'PARTISANSHIP IS POISON'
In a part of his speech, İmamoğlu addressed the mayors, saying, "The priority in service is transparency and looking out for the public interest. You will root out partisanship. Partisanship is poison; it harms service."
Emphasizing a transparent and needs-oriented management approach, İmamoğlu stated that it is unacceptable for nursery projects, in particular, to be sacrificed to political infighting. İmamoğlu concluded his speech with these words: "We are here to serve and to produce solutions to the public's problems. We must leave the diseased aspects of politics behind."
