İmamoğlu calls on political parties for 'justice for youth'! 'Take action against the oppression!'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was imprisoned on March 23, drew attention to the unlawful practices targeting students and youth in a post on his social media account. İmamoğlu stated that the pressures on the youth would go down in history as a black mark and made harsh criticisms.

"TAKE ACTION AGAINST THIS OPPRESSION"

"It is impossible to endure the unspeakable oppression inflicted upon students, the youth who are our future. This malice of yours has gone down in history. This is not just being done to 301 young people; it is being done to all the youth who cannot be appointed, who are eliminated in interviews, whose rights are violated, and who are left in need of pennies. Trying to intimidate the youth with fear is shameful."

Expressing his criticisms of the justice system, İmamoğlu said, "The person responsible for justice continues to say 'the judiciary is independent' every day. Get out of here! In a country where the judiciary is truly independent, does this need to be reminded every day? Preparing an indictment to impose a political ban on young people is a declaration that you are afraid. Shame on you!"

İmamoğlu included the following statements in his post:

"It is impossible to endure the unspeakable oppression inflicted upon students, our future, and our youth, each of whom is a diamond. This malice of yours has gone down in history.

This is not just being done to 301 young people; it is being done to the youth who cannot be appointed, who are eliminated in interviews, whose rights are violated, who are left in need of pennies, and to all the youth of our country. Those who govern the country and those who make the decisions are seeking to intimidate the youth with fear and spread fear among the nation. It is shameful to have reached this point from a place where the future was entrusted to the youth.

The person responsible for justice continues to say 'the judiciary is independent' every day as if a button has been pressed, as if playing a tape recording. Get out of here!

In a country where the judiciary is truly free and independent, does this need to be reminded every day?

By preparing an indictment to impose a political ban on 18-22-year-old youth, you are declaring that you are afraid of the youth. Shame on you!

A handful of people, devoid of conscience, who have not received their share of the sense of justice, and who act out of fear, are making daily, hourly, and minute-by-minute decisions in pursuit of currying favor with someone.

Those who try to frighten the youth with statements signed by YÖK, universities, and faculties, ministers who line up to post social media messages minute by minute upon an instruction, and administrators who approach this process irresponsibly, contribute to injustice, and serve a handful of people;

This nation will pin your tin medals on you one by one at the first ballot box that comes before it. I have not the slightest doubt about this.

I have 2 calls from here;

I am addressing the political party that feels the need to defend the President in every incident with a written statement. Justice is slipping away. No solution or peace initiative can succeed where there is no justice. Please show this nation that you are also sensitive about justice.

To the parties and members of parliament under the roof of the TBMM, at this final point reached by this system that has rendered the Parliament ineffective; IT IS YOUR TURN now against the oppression shown to the youth. As members of parliament, use whatever authority you have for the youth together, take action collectively."
