İmamoğlu chats with journalists! 'I am reading the Nutuk word by word'

Union of Municipalities of Türkiye and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu chatted with journalists during a break in the hearing of the Akın Gürlek case. Stating that his health is good, İmamoğlu expressed that he lost weight during the detention process. "I lost weight during the detention process at the police station and the courthouse. I am eating less and following a balanced diet. I am working hard but I cannot exercise. If my family is well, I am well too," he said.  

Saying that he spends his days reading books, İmamoğlu added, "I am reading the Nutuk word by word. I am also reading Muhammad Asad’s translation of the Quran and all of Nazım Hikmet’s poems," he added.  

According to the report in Sözcü, İmamoğlu spoke highly of the solidarity shown by young people recently. “Everyone was calling the youth apolitical, but I did not believe that. They brought to life what I had in my heart. I kiss their foreheads," he said. Reiterating his demand for the release of the detained youth, İmamoğlu stated, "I was very pleased with the Saraçhane rallies. I followed the rallies with limited means while inside. I congratulate the youth with all my heart," he expressed.  

Stating that he did not eat anything properly during the five days he was in detention, İmamoğlu said, "We lost a lot of weight during that process. But now our morale is high, I am paying attention to my nutrition. Even though the visitor traffic is heavy during the day, I set aside time for myself in the evenings to read books and try to live healthily" he said.
