İmamoğlu's jab at Kurum: 'He will remember the Istanbul election with every meatball he eats'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu answered questions from the press regarding the current agenda. İmamoğlu responded to Murat Kurum's remarks directed at him, saying, "You cannot even enter the doors of the ministries; you lack such merit. They would only hire you as a meatball vendor in the ministry cafeteria," as well as questions regarding government ministers.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu answered questions from the press.
İmamoğlu responded to Murat Kurum's remarks directed at him, saying, "You cannot even enter the doors of the ministries; you lack such merit. They would only hire you as a meatball vendor in the ministry cafeteria."
İmamoğlu also answered questions regarding government ministers.
RESPONSE TO KURUM'S 'MEATBALL VENDOR' REMARKS
İmamoğlu stated the following:
"Mr. Kurum has a problem with meatball vendors. Of course, I didn't say he couldn't be a minister; I said he couldn't be a meatball vendor. I did extend an invitation for him to become a tradesman, but he has no intention of being one. Given these statements, he couldn't be one anyway. You can imagine how someone who doesn't know what being a tradesman means could serve beautiful Istanbul, a city where nearly 30 percent of the population has a background in trades. Of course, I don't think he would understand that either. It is clear he has a problem with meatballs, meatball vendors, and tradesmanship, but this election on March 31 will be the victory of the tradesmen and the meatball vendors.
"HE FAILED THE TEST MISERABLY"
It is likely that after March 31, he will remember the Istanbul election with every meatball he eats, that is my prediction. He failed the test miserably; I hope life lessons teach him a bit about being a tradesman so he can experience and feel the weight of being one."
İMAMOĞLU'S CRITICISM OF MINISTERS
Criticizing the fact that ministers are out in the field despite election laws prohibiting them from engaging in propaganda, İmamoğlu said:
"There is an election ban, yet they are still campaigning. If ballot security is entrusted to you, how am I supposed to trust you? Were we not seeing operation footage on his page until 1.5 months ago? Did everything just stop on a dime?
Reacting to ministers campaigning in the field for AKP candidates, İmamoğlu said, 'Every minister has a certain weight; I want them to succeed in carrying the weight of being a minister. I hope what I am saying stings them. They are candidates to go down in the history of bureaucracy as shameful pages. I hope they come to their senses; I believe they will be running back to Ankara on April 1.'
"A MIND THAT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THESE..."
When asked about Murat Kurum's remark that he is "bringing the national agenda into the local election," İmamoğlu said: "What is the national agenda? Poverty, inflation, unemployment... A mind that does not understand these cannot serve as mayor of Istanbul."
Evaluating Erdoğan's statements on inflation, İmamoğlu said, "I wouldn't be surprised if he declares inflation the culprit soon."
