Imamoğlu reacts to İnan Güney's arrest

CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been removed from office and is currently in prison, responded harshly on his social media account to the arrest of Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney. The statement, issued by the Presidential Candidate Office, emphasized the illegality of the situation.

REACTION TO "ARREST BASED ON RUMORS"

In his statement, İmamoğlu argued that Güney was detained and arrested without any concrete evidence, stating the following:

"You have had our Beyoğlu Mayor and my colleagues detained and arrested based solely on rumors, without having any evidence in your hands. You have added another link to the chain of injustice, lawlessness, and unfairness."

"YOU CONTINUE TO INCREASE THE OPPRESSION"

Stating that the process is being conducted through political pressure rather than the justice system, İmamoğlu said, "Instead of preparing the indictment and allowing the truth to come to light, you continue to increase the oppression."

"THE NATION IS TAKING NOTE"

Emphasizing that the public will not forget all that has happened, İmamoğlu said, "You know very well that what you have done cannot be explained by law, and that after what you have put people through, one cannot speak of justice. But do not forget; the nation is taking note of these events one by one."

"YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AT THE BALLOT BOX"

In his statement, the imprisoned CHP candidate also sent an election message to the government:

"And when the day comes, the nation will deliver such a slap at the ballot box that you will regret what you have done. You will leave those seats you love so much and cannot give up. You will go so that Turkey can regain its democracy and our nation can find peace. No matter how much you run, when the day comes, this nation will show you that it is greater than any one person."
