İmamoğlu's reaction to TRT: 'My name hasn't been mentioned for 5 years, but we will bring justice to TRT as well'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at a rally held in the Bayrampaşa district. 

"I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK IN A MORAL AND VIRTUOUS MANNER FROM NOW ON"

Stating that he has "driven the government crazy," İmamoğlu said, "I have strived to work hard with all my colleagues. I said I would drive them crazy with our diligence in 18 days and drive them mad in 5 years; by God, they have gone mad. You will see, this brother of yours will continue to work in a moral and virtuous manner from now on, I promise. What was said in the past? 'He steals but he works.' Now, what does this nation say? He neither steals nor works," he expressed.

Stating that the IMM and its subsidiaries are frequently audited, İmamoğlu said, "They never audited KİPTAŞ for 12 years before us. We never shy away from being audited. We have an obligation to be accountable to our nation," he said.

"JUSTICE WILL COME TO TRT AS WELL"

Stating that the state broadcaster TRT does not engage in impartial journalism, Ekrem İmamoğlu said, "It is unclear whether there is such a thing as media in Turkey or not. 12 television channels, including TRT, decided not to even air our paid advertisements, let alone report on me. Who does TRT belong to? The nation. Every penny of TRT comes out of your pocket. But on that television, I am the mayor of 16 million people, and my name has not even been mentioned. In 3 years, 5 years, God willing, just as justice will come to every institution in this country, it will come to TRT as well. We will open the archives of these days, and we won't find a single mention of Ekrem İmamoğlu. But there is one thing they have forgotten: the memory of this nation will forget neither the good nor the bad," he said.

"YOU CANNOT WITHSTAND MY ENERGY, I HAVE 16 MILLION PEOPLE BEHIND ME"

Addressing the President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, İmamoğlu said the following:

"Their interventions and struggles against the unity and brotherhood of this nation, and against our labor... No matter how much they try to intimidate me, let me tell you, brother, I do not get intimidated; I am the one who intimidates. I do not give up. Look at what they did; just the other day, the President confessed, saying 'I tried to block him.' Was he able to block me much? You cannot block me, brother. I run in such a way that you will be left breathless and collapse halfway. You cannot withstand my energy, because I have 16 million people behind me. You have distanced yourself from the people. Thank God, there are people in this city who pray for me even if they don't vote for me."
