İmamoğlu's response to Özdağ on 'co-chair' claim: 'There is only one true word in it'

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at the opening ceremony of the IMM Filenin Sultanları Higher Education Student Dormitory. 

ALLIANCE ASSESSMENT

“I did not make a pairing like 'when there is change,' but I have always defended the possibility of an alliance. When we were already advocating for a social alliance, I said this without ever ignoring the political views or stakeholders within it. I know that negotiation and consultation are part of our social etiquette. I believe that every opposition view and party will be interested in this in order to become a winning opposition. In this context, I know that our chairman is of the same opinion. 

Because he is also someone open to dialogue. In this respect, I think that new negotiations and new meetings are in question. The CHP has an obligation to lead the opposition. This may not necessarily be through political parties; we may also be talking about leading the social opposition. I am adding a footnote that there is a possibility of a meaningful, rational political alliance through cooperation.”

RESPONSE TO ÖZDAĞ: 'THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE WORD'

İmamoğlu gave the following response to the post by Ümit Özdağ, who criticized him by saying, “Istanbul is facing a major threat of water scarcity. The occupancy rate of the dams has fallen to 17.1 percent. If there is no heavy rainfall, water scarcity will devastate people in Istanbul. In our city, which is heading toward an earthquake, it will be a problem even to wash our faces, let alone bathe. The Palace is watching this process while rubbing its hands. CHP co-chair İmamoğlu, who has no interest left in Istanbul, has abandoned Istanbul with the attitude of 'if only I could get rid of Istanbul and become the sole chairman'”:

“There is only one true word in it, and even that was not stated quite correctly; it is a matter of drought, not water scarcity, but there is no water scarcity yet.”

IMM CANDIDACY

Finally, İmamoğlu spoke about the local elections; he said, “No matter how many candidates' names are mentioned, I know who my opponent in Istanbul is.”
