Imamoğlu speaks out on CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency

CHP Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu evaluated the developments following the appointment of a trustee to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency. Stating that the events have deeply saddened him, İmamoğlu expressed that there is no legal basis for party members being unable to enter their own building.

Criticizing the use of police to blockade a political party, İmamoğlu said that this lawlessness must be ended immediately. He further stated that it is unacceptable for the country to be constantly dragged into new chaos and for the public's hope to be shattered.

Finally, addressing all political parties and leaders, İmamoğlu stated that one should not remain silent against such interventions made against the Republic and democracy. He expressed that this situation has ceased to be a personal or partisan issue and has become a national issue.

"I have been following the events in front of our CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency with great sadness and concern since last night.

On what legal basis do you justify our party members being unable to enter their own provincial building, that is, their home? To what end are you using our police, who should be concerned with the public order of the country, to blockade a political party?

End this lawlessness immediately. Stop breaking the nation's hope further, stop impoverishing the nation further, and stop dragging the country into a new chaos every day.

I would like to address our political parties and their esteemed leaders here; please do not turn a blind eye to these unlawful interventions against our Republic and our democracy. This issue is now a matter of national concern that transcends individuals and parties."
