Imamoğlu's jab at Erdoğan: 'Those who threaten voters...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended the opening ceremony of the Kömürcüoda Leachate Treatment Plant.

Speaking at the ceremony, İmamoğlu reacted to the 'no vote, no service' rhetoric used by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his election rallies.

"This is also an opening of an environmental project. I would like to state that we are investing in these projects in every aspect to ensure that life continues in a healthy and safe manner. In particular, a management approach that does not value people or nature and does not take the warnings of experts into account brings death. Those who see nature only as a source of profit for themselves are interested in projects that generate rent. In recent days, I have been feeling the emotional weight of people in the field sharing the issue in İliç, Erzincan with me. For example, I understand this from them asking about İliç at a street market in Esenler yesterday. I believe that those who threaten voters will receive the answer they deserve from our nation at the ballot box on behalf of the rights and laws of our tearful mothers. Our nation is eagerly awaiting March 31. We have never been one of them. Since 2019, Istanbul has been managed with a very high environmental sensitivity. It is also an important data point to compare what we have done in 5 years with the past 20 years.

For 5 years, we have not made any investment that would harm the environment. Those who realize that they cannot compete with our pace of action are belittling our projects by saying, 'Imamoğlu is completing the projects we started'."
