İmamoğlu: We will triple our student dormitories

İmamoğlu: We will triple our student dormitories

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has promised to increase the number of IMM student dormitories.

İmamoğlu stated, “We will support education. We will double and even triple our student dormitories. We have increased our student scholarships beyond what we promised. Hopefully, we will never leave our young people who are attending university alone. We will also increase our scholarships so that they receive a good education. I know that our study workshops and technology workshops have reached a good level. My colleagues are making a high-level effort to further expand this opportunity offered to our young people, especially so that they can be successful in this field.”

The IMM Study Workshops and Technology Workshops Graduation Ceremony was held today at the IMM Gaziosmanpaşa Halit Kıvanç City Stadium. Speaking at the ceremony, which was attended by hundreds of children and their families, İmamoğlu said:

“It is a great pride for me to be with you at such an event. I commemorate with mercy and gratitude the founding leader of our country, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, whom I believe it is a duty to commemorate with the loudest voice these days, and who suggested to us 100 years ago that the only generation to whom such a Republic and such a beautiful homeland would be entrusted is the youth, and that we would never give up on this, especially during the week of our Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. While wishing our Youth and Sports Day to be auspicious for all our young people, I am an administrator who knows that we must work extremely hard so that our young people can realize their hopes and dreams in this country. Wishing that our diamond-like young people, our dear young people with pure hearts, will be very strong in sports, art, culture, science, technology, production, labor, and education—in every field you can think of—and that there will be nothing in their lives to dull their dreams with clarity of mind, I wish them a very beautiful future on this holiday. May your path be clear, dear young people.

“WE WILL DOUBLE AND TRIPLE OUR STUDENT DORMITORIES”

The development of societies and catching up with the era is only possible with young people. It is our young people who will determine where a country will be, which journey it will take to reach its destination, and who will adapt developments to our lives in the fastest way. Of course, we know that for this to happen, our young people must be at a very high level in education and technology. In this sense, as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we have made an effort to fulfill our duty at the highest level, and we will continue to do so. We will support education. We will double and even triple our student dormitories. We have increased our student scholarships beyond what we promised. Hopefully, we will never leave our young people who are attending university alone. We will also increase our scholarships so that they receive a good education. I know that our study workshops and technology workshops have reached a good level. My colleagues are making a high-level effort to further expand this opportunity offered to our young people, especially so that they can be successful in this field. It is our management philosophy to create a city where our middle school and high school senior students in our study workshops can receive a better education and be equalized, by accepting the responsibility of our families' children as if they were our own, so that they do not fall behind any of their peers in the LGS and YKS exams. That is why I see that this existing level and number are not enough. I promise you all that we will increase this number by multiplying it.

“I WISH FOR YOU TO BE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO DO NOT FORGET ATATÜRK’S PRINCIPLES”

Today, we provide services to our students in 13 branches, 28 classrooms, with 120 instructors and psychological counseling experts. So far, we have prepared 5 thousand 70 of our students for exams. May their paths and fortunes be clear. May they be successful throughout their educational lives. I wish for you to be young people who always love their state and nation; who do not discriminate against any citizen within this state, nation, and these borders; who have no prejudices against any citizen in their hearts and minds; who know and see each of us as noble citizens of this homeland; who are passionate about their homeland and flag; who accept each other; who keep love and respect at the highest level; who believe in democracy and the Republic; who walk under the light of that supreme justice; who are the guardians of the republic and democracy; and who never forget Atatürk’s principles in their lives. With these feelings, may your path be clear. In 2021, the IMM Technology Workshops were launched in cooperation with Boğaziçi University. In this lane, which we opened to sign the existence of a future that reduces foreign dependency in science and technology and to raise individuals who produce and develop technology, we served 940 students with 48 instructors in 9 workshops this year. Thus, the number of students we have provided technology education to so far has reached 3 thousand 615, but we will increase this.

“AS OUR SPACES INCREASE, WE WILL EXPAND OUR EDUCATIONAL AREAS”

I promise you all here that we will find the way and method to increase this level by establishing a mechanism that spreads throughout Istanbul and trains thousands of our young people in this field at the same time, by including the volunteers of this city, volunteer institutions and organizations, and the beautiful people and administrators of this city who have achieved high-level success in technology into this process, as you will see that as our spaces increase, we expand our areas to provide this education to our children and young people, because this is not enough for Istanbul. I promise you all here that we will gift this to the people of Istanbul by increasing it with the talented people of this city in our technology workshops, in order to create a future generation that catches up with the era, produces on a world scale, represents the understanding of being free in thought, conscience, and wisdom with their mental clarity, and produces great added value on the world axis by making inventions and discoveries with their creativity.
