We stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder, as we bid farewell to Sırrı Süreyya Önder to eternity.
As the children, administrators, and politicians of our nation from every view and every identity, with a loud voice...
In his statement, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:
"I watched the funeral ceremony of a beautiful man from my cell in Silivri today.
We stood side by side, shoulder to shoulder, as we bid farewell to Sırrı Süreyya Önder to eternity.
As the children, administrators, and politicians of our nation from every view and every identity, we shouted our feelings with a loud voice in the presence of Almighty Allah: 'We knew him well', 'May our rights be forgiven'...
Is it hard to reconcile while alive? To understand, feel, and talk to one another...
Why have these things become so difficult?
Of course, it is not a requirement to be of the same opinion. We know that we are beautiful and rich with our differences. The wisdom and tolerance of Anatolia is our assurance.
We must break down these prejudices now; we must be able to talk, debate, and most importantly, embrace each other while we are alive.
We must be able to share all the blessings of this paradise homeland, of which we are equal shareholders, in a fair manner.
Our struggle is for our nation's peace, tranquility, brotherhood, unity, and solidarity, and for the ability to live equally and freely under the crescent-and-star flag.
Our struggle is to live 'like a single tree, free and alone, and like a forest, in brotherhood'.
On this occasion, I once again wish for mercy from the Almighty Creator for the esteemed Sırrı Süreyya Önder."
