Imamoglu's harsh reaction to the government! 'Don't look for a prosecutor, he is the prosecutor'

Republican People's Party (CHP) presidential candidate hopeful and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu continues to travel from city to city as part of his primary election campaign.

Imamoglu, whose last stop on his national tour was Bursa, was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the people of Bursa.

"WE ARE EXPERIENCING DIFFICULT DAYS AS A NATION"

Imamoglu began his speech by addressing the cost-of-living crisis. Imamoglu stated, "We all know that we are experiencing difficult days as a nation. The money we earn has lost its value and blessing. Just yesterday, 8-10 years ago, we thought of 200 liras as a large amount of money; today, it is not even enough for pocket change. They have turned our currency into paper and destroyed our reputation. We are far below where our country should be. Do you know why we are in this state? When a government loses its sense of justice, no matter what you do, the prosperity of the country disappears. Our biggest problem, I say with regret, is that those who govern the country have no sense of justice left; their consciences have become calloused. They do not hesitate for a millimeter to trample on the rights and laws of the nation. The millions of low-income people who cannot survive without debt are of no concern to the government. And when they tell you to be grateful, they do it while scolding you," he said.

"THEY BECOME ENEMIES TO THOSE WHO WANT TO ENSURE JUSTICE"

Imamoglu said, "There is no justice. Look, almost two years have passed since the election. Didn't he say he would abolish the interview system when he was in a tight spot during the general elections? Does the person at the head of the state not keep his word? There is no justice in the courts. There is no justice anywhere this government has its hands in. Not only do they have no sense of justice left, but they are also putting the esteemed judges and prosecutors of the supreme Turkish judiciary, whose purpose is to ensure justice, in a difficult position. They become enemies to everyone who tries to ensure justice."

'CITY RESTAURANT' MESSAGE

Giving a message regarding the 'City Restaurants' (Kent Lokantası), Imamoglu said, "We opened City Restaurants so that our people could eat a meal under difficult conditions with their own money and with dignity. My local administrator colleagues opened City Restaurants everywhere under the City Restaurant brand. Look at the helplessness the government has fallen into. With all their might, they are attacking a City Restaurant that is at most 100 square meters in size. They are launching investigations into people just because they went there to eat. They are in a shameful state," he said.

"WE WILL BE THE GOVERNMENT"

Imamoglu continued his statement as follows:

"I said I would make transportation free for mothers with small children. Istanbul is a difficult city, a city with a much higher cost of living than many others. In the 2019 election, the President came and held dozens of rallies in every election, addressing me and saying, 'Whose money are you giving to whom?' What did I say? I said I am giving the nation's money to the nation; am I going to ask you? They are so used to violating the nation's rights that they cannot comprehend us giving the nation's money to the nation. Their concern is to give the nation's money to a handful of people who are their own relatives!"

Emphasizing "We will be the government," Imamoglu stated, "The nation will get its rights. We will give the nation's rights to the nation."

'PRIMARY ELECTION' STATEMENT

Giving a message for the primary election that the CHP will hold on March 23 to determine its presidential candidate, Imamoglu noted the following:

"This is not a simple candidate determination process. This is called a democratic revolution. With the primary election, politics in Turkey is entering a new path. On March 23, with your strong will, the era of one-man rule and backroom politicians will come to an end. On March 23, the eyes and ears of Turkey will be on the CHP. I know that the CHP will take the step on March 23 to send this government away and establish the nation's government in its place. I am calling out to our members; we cannot afford to have even one person less, even one vote missing."

"WE WILL COME TOGETHER WITH EVERYONE"

Saying "We are not dreaming of winning the election alone and making every decision for the country ourselves," Imamoglu said:

"Our idea is not for this beautiful country to ever again fall under the dominance of one man or one party. We wholeheartedly believe in a pluralistic, libertarian, parliamentary democracy. We are determined to walk all the way with all opposition parties and all segments of society. We will come together with everyone. We will stay away from the mistakes made in the past. We will focus on winning the election and sending home those who make the cruelty of a handful of people their strategy. We will not leave anything to the last minute."

"DON'T LOOK FOR A PROSECUTOR, HE IS THE PROSECUTOR!"

Making a reference to Erdogan without naming him, Imamoglu noted:

"Since the day our party announced the primary election, we have been facing an incredibly accelerating attack. There are such lawsuits, such attacks that it is shameful! There is a prosecutor following these cases on paper, but everyone knows the real prosecutor of these cases. The person who said 'I am the prosecutor of these cases' for the Ergenekon cases organized with FETO plots has now taken on the role of prosecutor for the cases filed against the CHP and me. Don't look for a prosecutor, he is the prosecutor!"

"DIPLOMA MESSAGE"

Speaking about the diploma lawsuit, Imamoglu said, "They are trying to have my diploma canceled after 35 years. They are in such a hurry that the prosecutor's office has written to the university for the second time. The university already made a decision on this matter 5 years ago. They said there is no irregularity regarding Imamoglu's diploma."

Making references to Erdogan without naming him, Imamoglu stated, "The real prosecutor of the case is in Ankara, you know; the person in question is in a hurry. He says 'let the diploma be canceled' before March 23, he says 'let Ekrem not run against me,' and in his own mind, he thinks he will determine the CHP's candidate too!"
