Imamoğlu's message from prison on the trustee appointment: 'The issue is not the CHP, it is Turkey'

CHP presidential candidate, removed Union of Municipalities of Türkiye and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained in Silivri Prison, lashed out at the cancellation of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress and the appointment of a trustee to the provincial administration. İmamoğlu said, "Let them know that no politician who says 'I am a CHP member' will be a tool for this usurpation of will and dishonor."

"NO FORCE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE US CAPTIVE"

İmamoğlu stated, "No force will be able to take captive the will that founded the Republic, Turkey's leading party, and the sovereignty of the nation. The Republican People's Party is the insurance of the Republic of Turkey and our democracy. A handful of ambitious people are trying to usurp the nation's right to determine its own destiny and change the government through democratic means."

"THEY WANT TO DESTROY THE CHP"

İmamoğlu noted the following:

They want to destroy the Republican People's Party, which stands with an unshakable will against all the evils inflicted upon our state and our nation. They are very, very afraid of our struggle that keeps them awake at night and of the nation's government.

In order to finance this intervention against democracy, they are shrinking the bread on the nation's table and bringing the country's economy to the point of collapse. They think of themselves as the landlords and the nation as the tenants. They think they will remain in power by declaring war on the ballot box and the national will.

"NO ONE WHO SAYS 'I AM A CHP MEMBER' WILL BE A TOOL FOR THIS DISHONOR"

They think they can achieve results by trying to stain our pristine Istanbul Provincial Congress and our Grand Assembly, by threatening our party with a trustee, and by disregarding the will of our delegates. I express this strongly here; CHP congresses and our Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik are our honor.

Let them know that no politician who says "I am a CHP member" will be a tool for this usurpation of will and dishonor.

The intervention that those who try to seize our beloved homeland through political engineering, lawsuits, arrests, backroom plans, and trustees are attempting to make against democracy through the judiciary was stopped by the loud voice of our nation that echoed in Saraçhane on March 19. They cannot stop this mobilization of hope, which they are trying to end, by taking us captive or by threatening the CHP.

It will not be coups, but democracy that governs the Republic of Turkey.

"THE ISSUE IS NOT THE CHP, IT IS TURKEY"

Those who choose to declare war on the nation, those who use state institutions to usurp the national will, and those who pin their hopes on trustees will be defeated by your will and will lose. The issue is not the CHP, it is Turkey.

The power to stop this attack on democracy exists in your hearts, your minds, your souls, and your belief in Turkey and democracy. We will not get tired and we will never give up. Together, we will protect our future and our democracy.

With perseverance, determination, and courage, the nation's government will bring Turkey to hope and peace.

Their oppression will never be greater than the nation's victory. They will go, the nation will come! And that sentence that makes them tremble with fear will never leave their ears: Everything Will Be Very Beautiful!
