IMM pays off Eurobond debt right on time

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has announced that it repaid the 580 million dollar Eurobond financing it secured from international markets in 2020, along with all its obligations, on December 9, 2025. This financing is notable for being the first Eurobond issuance by a municipality in Turkey in 33 years. IMM stated that with this transaction, it has proven its institutional capacity and financial reliability at an international level.

In its statement, IMM emphasized that this resource was aimed at opening four metro lines to service and that the financing accelerated Istanbul's rail system investments. The timely repayment of the debt demonstrates the municipality's power to generate investment and its financial sustainability.

Following its first Eurobond issuance, IMM increased investor confidence and successfully carried out two more Eurobond issuances, one of which was a Green Bond. This situation shows that the confidence of international investors in IMM is permanent and sustainable.

IMM exhibits a management model that fulfills all its obligations in international markets, transforms debt into investment, and uses its resources in line with sustainability and public benefit. The municipality stated that it will continue to contribute to the future of Istanbul without compromising the principle of financial responsibility.
