Immunity dossiers in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey: Özgür Özel is among them

Immunity dossiers concerning 10 members of parliament, including the leader of the main opposition party, Özgür Özel, have reached the Speaker's Office of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. It was stated that the 14 submitted dossiers concern the lifting of legislative immunity.

The Speaker's Office has forwarded these dossiers, sent by the Presidency, to the Joint Committee composed of the Constitutional and Justice Commissions. The committee will begin its work to evaluate the files.

The files in question were prepared regarding many names from different political parties. The four files from the CHP include Özgür Özel, as well as Ali Mahir Başarır, Özgür Karabat, Süleyman Bülbül, and Seyit Torun. In addition, the names of IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez and Kocaeli MP Lütfü Türkkan also appear on the list; it was announced that two files were prepared regarding Türkkan.

The other immunity dossiers cover DEM Party Hakkari MP Vezir Coşkun Parlak, DEM Party Istanbul MP Özgül Saki, and TİP Istanbul MP Ahmet Şık.

Whether these dossiers prepared for the lifting of legislative immunity will come to the agenda of the General Assembly after being handled by the Joint Committee will become clear in the coming days.
