Immunity files for 2 CHP deputies reach the Turkish Parliament

The immunity summaries prepared for Ankara Deputy Murat Emir and Istanbul Deputy Gökhan Günaydın, both prominent figures in the Republican People's Party (CHP), have reached the Parliament. These motions, prepared by the Presidency, were referred by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to the Joint Committee, which consists of members of the Constitutional and Justice Commissions.

The Joint Committee will examine the submitted files and announce its decision in the coming period. This step was taken within the framework of legislation regarding the lifting of legislative immunities.

In January, the Parliament had also received 14 different immunity files covering 10 deputies, including CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

The names whose files were sent to the committee at that time included Özgür Özel, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır, Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat, Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül, Ordu Deputy Seyit Torun, IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez, IYI Party Kocaeli Deputy Lütfü Türkkan, DEM Party Hakkari Deputy Vezir Coşkun Parlak, DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Özgül Saki, and TİP Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Şık.

Among the files in question, four files belonging to CHP leader Özgür Özel and two files belonging to Lütfü Türkkan of the IYI Party had drawn attention.
