Imrali rift in the People's Alliance: If the commission goes to terrorist leader Öcalan, 2 parties will leave!

The commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) continues its work as part of the new opening process, which MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli is the architect of and which the government has named 'Terror-Free Turkey,' conducted with the DEM Party and terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Since the commission meetings began, the DEM Party front has frequently called for the commission to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. MHP leader Bahçeli, in his speech at his party's group meeting, supported the DEM Party's call by saying, "The commission should go to Imrali."

According to a report by Başak Kaya from Sözcü, the New Welfare Party (YRP), a former partner of the People's Alliance, and the Democratic Left Party (DSP), a partner of the People's Alliance, have reacted to this proposal. On the other hand, a similar view prevails within the Democrat Party front. It is claimed that if the commission meets with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, the YRP and DSP will withdraw from the commission.

Each of the three parties has one member of parliament in the 51-member commission. Whether a possible visit to Imrali will take place will depend on a decision to be made by a simple majority in the commission.

YRP leader Fatih Erbakan stated, "If such a thing happens, we will put withdrawing from the commission on our agenda." DSP Chairman Önder Aksakal expressed his reaction by saying, "It would cause public outrage; we would never accept this."
