Individual tried in Gaffar Okkan murder case becomes candidate in Diyarbakır's Bismil
HÜDA PAR has announced Ali Bilmez, who was tried for membership in Hizbullah in the Gaffar Okkan murder case, as its mayoral candidate for the Bismil district of Diyarbakır.
HÜDA PAR introduced its mayoral candidates for Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Siirt, Kahta, Ceylanpınar, Eğil, and Bismil during a 'Candidate Introduction Program' held in Şanlıurfa, with the participation of its Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu.
According to a report by Tolga Balcı from Gazete Pencere, Ali Bilmez became HÜDA PAR's candidate for the Bismil district of Diyarbakır.
The name of Bilmez, a former HÜDA PAR Bismil District Chairman, appears in the indictment regarding the assassination of the then-Diyarbakır Police Chief Okkan, who was killed alongside 5 police officers.
UP TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON HAD BEEN SOUGHT
A prison sentence of up to 15 years had been sought for Ali Bilmez, who was tried while in custody for membership in Hizbullah in the murder of Okkan, who was killed by Hizbullah.
Bilmez, one of the defendants in the Okkan murder case, was released by the court taking into account the time he had spent in detention.
