Instruction to resign from CHP from Özlem Çerçioğlu, rumored to be joining AKP: WhatsApp messages revealed
It has been alleged that Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, who resigned from the CHP, asked municipal employees to cancel their party memberships. It is claimed that Çerçioğlu will join the AKP on August 14.
Ankara political circles are buzzing with claims that three CHP mayors, including Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, will join the AKP. Speaking to SÖZCÜ, a CHP member of parliament confirmed some of the resignations.
WHATSAPP MESSAGES REVEALED
In the morning hours, messages alleged to belong to a WhatsApp group containing municipal employees were shared on social media. Journalist Barış Pehlivan published screenshots of the correspondence.
“MAYOR'S INSTRUCTION” MESSAGES
In the messages, a person was seen saying, “Let's resign from CHP membership, send me the screenshot.”
While some group members were trying to understand what was happening, another message contained the following statements:
“They say resign, so we are resigning. It is the Mayor's instruction. If there are friends in the group who haven't seen it, call each other.”
