Intense agenda in Ankara: Primary elections in CHP, the İmralı process, and the AKP congress

PARLIAMENTARY WORK CONTINUES WHERE IT LEFT OFF
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which worked for only one day last week due to the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes, will continue its work this week. On the General Assembly agenda, new regulations regarding the Justice Academy, which was annulled by the Constitutional Court, will be discussed. The Academy will be reshaped with its presidency and education board structure, and judges and prosecutors who have completed 8 years in their profession will be able to serve as faculty members at the academy.
In addition, Turkey's first "Climate Law Proposal," which aims to strengthen the legal infrastructure in the fight against climate change, is expected to be submitted to Parliament. The proposal will impose a responsibility on public institutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the 2053 net-zero emission target.
Two commission meetings will be held in Parliament this week. The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) and the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) will make presentations at the Artificial Intelligence Commission. The Human Rights Investigation Commission will discuss investigation reports regarding the Erzurum and Erzincan Penal Execution Institutions.
PRIMARY ELECTION WORK IN CHP
The most important agenda item in the Republican People's Party (CHP) will be the primary election to be held to determine the presidential candidate. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will meet with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş to evaluate the process. The primary election decision will be discussed at the Party Assembly (PM) meeting to be held on Monday.
İMRALI PROCESS AND ÖCALAN'S MESSAGE AWAITED
One of the most discussed topics in political circles is the İmralı process. The potential message of PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, which is described as "historic," and the steps to be taken within this framework will be closely followed.
FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR THE AKP CONGRESS
Having completed all its provincial congresses, the AKP is making its final preparations for the grand congress it will hold on February 23. Intra-party restructuring and the new roadmap will become clear during this process.
LEADERS' GROUP MEETINGS
Political party leaders will make statements regarding the agenda at the group meetings to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is not expected to hold a group meeting due to his overseas visits covering Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. There is also a possibility that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli will not hold a group meeting due to the surgery he underwent.
