Interesting admission from former Idealist Hearths President: 'There were Idealists who voted for Demirtaş'

Former Idealist Hearths Chairman Alaattin Aldemir made statements regarding the second reconciliation process in Turkey.  Recalling his 2013 remark, 'Are you not going to negotiate with Öcalan, but with the Consul General of Djibouti?', Aldemir defended his approach from that period.

Emphasizing the principle that 'you negotiate with whoever you are fighting,' Aldemir stated that he defended the 2013 resolution process. However, he underscored the question, 'Is it not necessary to negotiate and establish a dialogue with Öcalan?' and added, 'In his statements today, Öcalan says we will integrate with the state and society. Why are we opposing this now?'

IDEALISTS WHO VOTED FOR DEMİRTAŞ

While drawing attention to the change coming from different segments of society, Aldemir said, 'He stated that a very large number of Turkish Nationalists and Idealists voted for Selahattin Demirtaş.' He noted that there were Idealists who voted for him due to Demirtaş's honesty and sincerity.

He mentioned that his own son had also supported Demirtaş at one point, saying, 'If I were to vote, I would vote for Selahattin. He plays the saz, while you are poking a finger in a blind eye.'

GREAT PEACE OR BLOOD AND GRUDGE?

Issuing a striking warning for the future of the Turkish nation, Aldemir said, 'We will either build the Great Peace, or we will drown in our own grudge and blood.' Taking a clear stance on the resolution process, Aldemir emphasized the need for social peace and unity. 'We will lose our honor and our reputation. We need to come together now,' he said.
